The Cooperation of the Business Sector and the University of Zagreb
On Friday, 15 February 2013, PLIVA’s Generic Research and Development and the University of Zagreb's Faculty of Pharmacy and Biochemistry presented their common project.
The project entitled Development of the In Vitro and Ex Vivo Model for Permeability Testing of New Ophthalmologic Preparations ensues from the Research Partnership Project co-financed by the Croatian Ministry of Science. The project was presented by project leaders: Prof. Jelena Filipović Grčić, Ph.D., from the Faculty of Pharmacy and Biochemistry, and Biserka Cetina-Čižmek, Ph.D., Preformulation Senior Director at PLIVA's Generics Research and Development.
This project has resulted from the tender invited by the Ministry of Science and conducted in 2011. PLIVA applied together with the Faculty of Pharmacy and Biochemistry and following the positive review, the financing of the project was approved. The project leaders were Prof. Jelena Filipović Grčić, Ph.D., from the Faculty of Pharmacy and Biochemistry, and Biserka Cetina-Čižmek, Ph.D., Preformulation Senior Director at PLIVA's Generics Research and Development. The work on the project started in early 2013 and its basic purpose was to develop and implement the in vitro and ex vivo model for testing permeability of ophthalmologic medicinal products. This model will be also routinely used in the selection of optimal formulations and for assessing the impact of physical characteristics and formulations on the bioavailability of medicinal products. The presentation of the project attracted an impressive audience, and the project itself was described as an example of high-quality cooperation between the business sector and the university and the wholehearted support by the Ministry of Science.
