Teva Serbia Donated Bronchoscope to the Clinic for Pulmonary Diseases of the Clinical Centre of Serbia
In the beginning of April, Teva Serbia donated a cutting edge bronchoscope (FB-19TV fiber bronchoscope) to the Clinic for Pulmonary Diseases of the Clinical Centre of Serbia in Belgrade.
Bronchoscopy is the examination of the internal respiratory organs through a bronchoscope - a device with a long tube and a video camera attached to its top and inserted through the nose or the mouth to the pulmonary tissue. Its purpose is to detect changes of the lungs and airways.
This valuable donation amounting to EUR 10,000 will greatly facilitate treatment of patients with pulmonary diseases. They will benefit from this latest technology device, which speeds up and facilitates diagnosis of various diseases and is therefore a prerequisite for high-quality treatment and therapy adjustment.
The Clinical Centre of Serbia is engaged in highly specialized diagnostic procedures, treatment and examinations of even the most serious patients by medical specialists and subspecialists. It is also a medical research centre for students and various medical and healthcare specialists. It uses the latest healthcare technologies and keeps abreast of the most recent diagnostic and treatment procedures. The Clinic for Pulmonary Diseases is the reference institution for pulmonary diseases operating as part of the Clinical Centre of Serbia. On an average this Clinic performs about 6000 bronchoscopies per year (520 monthly), while the Clinic for Thoracic Surgery performs another 200 bronchoscopies.
Lidija Marušić Rako, M. Pharm., Director of Teva Serbia, gave the bronchoscope to the Clinic for Pulmonary Diseases on 2 April 2013.
According to Prof. Dragana Jovanović, Ph. D., both the Clinical Centre of Serbia and the Clinic for Pulmonary Diseases and their patients will greatly benefit from this bronchoscope because it will reduce the time from diagnosis to treatment. Additionally, this device will improve the quality of healthcare services in Serbia and contribute to the education of young physicians and acquisition of knowledge of various medical specialities.
This donation will further promote Teva Serbia as a socially responsible company which builds partnerships and takes care about the communities in which it operates.
