The operations of PLIVA HRVATSKA are managed by the Management Board, with Mihael Furjan as its President and Nikolina Dizdar Čehulić, Romana Šantar and Sébastien Roche as its members. Each of the Management Board members is responsible for an individual segment of the company’s business operations.
President of the Management Board
Mihael Furjan is appointed as President of PLIVA's Management Board, effective 4 May 2015, and his responsibilities cover PLIVA's operations in Croatia and Southeast Europe. Mihael Furjan was born in 1973 in Zagreb. He graduated from the Faculty of Economics and Business, University of Zagreb, in 1996. Mr. Furjan started his career at PLIVA in 1997 as business analyst in Economic Affairs, and thereafter advanced to the position of Economic Affairs Manager and Operating Planning Manager in Marketing Department.
He developed his expertise in a number of areas in the pharmaceutical industry. He was appointed as Biotechnology Project Director in 2001, New Products Launch Manager in Strategic Marketing in 2003, and Senior Director European Corporate Products in Business Development in 2004 responsible for the overall product lifecycle, and European Project Management and Country Support. In 2009, after leaving PLIVA, he joined Hrvatska Pošta (Croatian Post). Since 2010 and before re-joining PLIVA he worked as Executive Director, International Product Portfolio, for a global generic company in Switzerland. Since April 2017 mr. Furjan has been the president of the Pharmaceutical Industry Association within the Croatian Employers’ Association (CEA), he is a member of the CEA Advisory Board, and represents the CEA in the Economic and Social Council.
A Member of the Management Board and Chief Financial Officer
Nikolina Dizdar Čehulić was born in Karlovac in 1977. She graduated from the Faculty of Economics and Business, University of Zagreb, in 2000, and started her career at Arthur Andersen. In 2002, she moved to Ernst & Young after merger of two companies.
She joined PLIVA d.d. in 2004 as Senior Financial Analyst for Planning and Group Performance Management. Soon after that Mrs. Dizdar Čehulić became Planning and Performance Management Director, and in 2007, Group Controlling Director. In 2009, she moved to Teva’s European headquarters in Utrecht to become Head of Finance and Accounting, Teva Europe.
In 2010 she returned to Croatia and joined General Electric GBS where she occupied the position of the Regional Head for Southeast Europe.
On 4 November 2013, she rejoined PLIVA's team, and on 26 November became Chief Financial Officer and a member of the Management Board for finance. Mrs. Dizdar Čehulić is a certified accountant and a fellow member of the Association of Chartered and Certified Accountants (FCCA) in Great Britain. In 2014 she completed the Executive MBA studies at the Cotrugli Business School.
Member of the Management Board and Site General Manager
After graduating with a master in Aeronautics and Space from the Sup'Aero in 1996, Mr. Roche started his career in the automotive industry, working for PSA group, where he spent 11 years in several operations management roles. In 2009 he moved to McKinsey & Company where he was a leader of pharma operations practice. As a consultant, he has been leading operational diagnostics, OPEX transformations and strategy reviews for more than 20 pharmaceutical manufacturing sites, 15 pharma wholesale warehouses and five pharma site quality control labs.
In 2016 he left McKinsey & Company to move to PGT, Teva’s joint venture with Procter & Gamble, where he assumed the position of Chief Technical Officer and led a manufacturing network of more than 20 locations, over 200 CMOs, a supply chain with operations in 80 countries and the organisation's portfolio management, direct procurement, regulatory affairs and R&D functions. Mr. Roche joined PLIVA after two years at PGT, and on the 1st of October 2018 became a member of the Management Board and Site General Manager.
Management Board Member and Site General Manager, TAPI Croatia
Romana Šantar was born in Rome in 1971. She graduated in pharmacy from the Faculty of Pharmacy and Biochemistry, University of Zagreb, in 1994. Romana joined Pliva in 1994 as a Process Engineer in the Engineering department. In 2000 she joined Global Operations as a Project Manager coordinating the activities for new product introductions up to product launch for all the EU and US sites.
After responsibility for the construction of the new facility for oral solid forms manufacturing and packaging, she was promoted to Senior Director, Manufacturing in 2004. Since then she has been successfully leading the Zagreb pharmaceutical production activities, including oral solid forms, sterile forms, creams and ointments, packaging of all dosage forms, automated and control systems, maintenance and drafting of production documentation. Since January 2015 she has been Site General Manager, TAPI Croatia.
